Recent news: A 135 million dollar lawsuit was filed in federal court against, a number of parties involved in family court, including Sandra Acevedo, who was named, "Guardian Ad Litem."
SANDRA ACEVEDO:
Request she be removed from any case where she assigned as a Guardian Ad Litem..
If the State Bar doesn't do anything about this greed monster, monster Ask If She Carries MALPRACTICE insurance. If she doesn't, hire her at your own risk. Nothing is in her name, so if you have a case, and she doesn't have insurance, or assets in her name, what would you collect?
How badly do clients hate Acevedo? Bad enough to go to the post office and put in for a change of address.
We have an envelope demonstrating the complete ire of one former client, so upset by Acevedo's representation, that he went the post office and submitted a change of office address for Acevedo. . . to Puerto Rico!
More unsettling feelings about her exists within a group of her peers. It is felt that anyone weighing close to three hundred pounds, who tells her young charges her father was an alcoholic and she never saw much of him, is probably better suited addressing her own issues, rather than weighing in on the "Best" interests of children.
We seldom blame the parent for an initial lack of awareness. However, Acevedo's bizarre behavior has been so well documented, our position is any parent doing even the most cursory investigation will learn Acevedo's reputation precedes her, and therefore conclude any parent Not objecting to Acevedo's representation, is a parent guilty of child endangerment.
The recommendation page of Deborah Winner's study of Marin County's system stated All evaluations performed by Ed Oklan and Margaret Levy be reopened. A little background on ole Ed can be found in LA, where a court found he wasn't credible.
We agree, but the report was only a beginning. To the limited individuals named, we add the following:
MAUNA BERKOV:
Only one word comes to mind. Sinister.
TERRY COLYER:
One of Marin's infamous, self-annointed Fleas. (Family Law exceptional attorneys as profiled in other reports.) No children were involved in Colyer's second divorce, but financial sleight-of-hand, prevailed.
The second Mrs. Colyer, was forced to hire counsel from another county, just to get access to public documents. For details, of how he tried to financially strip her, she originally uploaded the site, "CheapCreep.com" Primarily, because "Yellow Rat Bastard," was taken.
CLAY GREENE:
High fees, short attention span. Doesn't work for us.
Byron B. Kilgore:
Practicing just a few short years, Kilgore has already acquired the annoying superior attitude and legalistic short-sightedness so common to newer attorneys finding their way. With seasoning, he might jettison the bad attitude towards those he tries to intimidate, and gain some mileage for his clients.
Judge JOHN McCALL:
Represented Terry Colyer. Enough said.
SAMI MASON:
(Folks were leery of Ms. Mason long Before she passed the Bar. People expressed their concerns about her integrity when she was worked for the county in a mental health field position.
We've had direct experience with her; and people had a Right to be worried. Ms. Mason not only figured out the promise of non-profit funding, but useful, goon squad tactics used to destroy whistle blowers. However, the latest complaint against her comes not from a former client, (and why are her former clients so bitter? Could it be her billing practices?) No...we were contacted by someone who posted a negative comment concerning her experience when buying something from her online.. Mason's response? In a word, was "ballistic." One long, vengeful rant. Naturally she threatened litigation. Of course she would. She's Sami Mason! The person writing us however, thought she was just plain nuts.
MANTON LAWRENCE SELBY II:
We confess Mr. Selby's bar status makes us dizzy. In addition to a suspension in 2005, in part as a result of a child custody case; Selby has been disciplined three times previously he was privately reproved in 1989, received a two-year stayed suspension and four years of probation in 1992 for misconduct in 17 cases, and in 1998, he received a one-year stayed suspension and two years of probation for failing to perform legal services competently, refund unearned fees or communicate with clients.
CHUCK TUNNELL:
Appears reasonable and forthcoming. Key word: 'appears'. Prepared custody order exactly opposite of court order, had it executed by another judge and without the knowledge of oppposing counsel. Goes to great lengths to protect child abusers.
